Point is, there's always been upsides and downsides. Seeing it grow was cool though, I've been playing on and off since 2008 and I can say this game looks and plays much better then it did.

In fact, TF2 wasn't much of a Cash Cow for Valve until the hats and the qualities sprang up and the Mannconomy update was introduced.Īlso, 2011 was a great year since it had the Uber Update. It dosen't matter with hats, hats and stuff have only made the game more unique, not worse. sucks that I didn't hear about it until 2011 :< TF2 has always had imbalances and problems. I wish I started playing before the WAR update, seems like it was actually better with less hats and items, and being able to see tf2 grow into what it is today from the start would be pretty cool to. MVM increased popularity greatly sure, but TF2 has always sort of been going steady since 2010. TF2 was super hyped, and was with the Orange Box. Also, there were a lot more COD/Counter Strike "newbies" in the earlier days, as well as some very rare HLDM and Vanilla elititsts.
